Randy Boakye Yiadom of Kumawu Places 4th in the 2026 OCRC

Randy Boakye Yiadom, a student from the Sekyere Kumawu District, has placed 4th in the Grand Finals of the 2026 Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge (OCRC).

The Grand Finals of the 2026 Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge were held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Jubilee Hall of the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, bringing together selected young readers from different districts to demonstrate their reading abilities in English Language and Asante Twi.

Randy Boakye Yiadom represented the Sekyere Kumawu District in the prestigious competition. He is a student of Bodomase St. Stephen R/C JHS, under the Sekyere Kumawu District Education Directorate in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

His participation in the Grand Finals follows his impressive performance during the earlier stages of the competition. Randy successfully represented the Kumawu area and advanced to the final stage, where he competed against other talented students selected from five districts.

A total of five districts were selected to participate in the Grand Finals of the 2026 Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge. The contestants were given the opportunity to demonstrate their reading skills and knowledge in both English Language and Asante Twi.

After the various stages of the final contest, Randy Boakye Yiadom secured the 4th position among the participating contestants.

Although he did not finish among the top three, his fourth-place achievement represents a significant accomplishment for him, his school, his teachers, his parents and guardians, and the entire Sekyere Kumawu District.

The competition provided the young participants with an important platform to develop and demonstrate their reading abilities. It also encouraged students to take reading seriously while appreciating the importance of both English and the Asante Twi language.

Training in English Language and Asante Twi

As part of their preparation for the competition, the contestants received training in reading English Language and Asante Twi.

The training was designed to help the participants improve their reading skills, pronunciation, fluency and confidence. It also exposed them to the importance of reading in both formal education and everyday communication.

For Randy, the opportunity to participate at the Grand Finals was not only about competing for a position but also about gaining valuable experience that could contribute to his academic and personal development.

His participation also brought recognition to Bodomase St. Stephen R/C JHS and the Sekyere Kumawu District Education Directorate.
