Sekyere Kumawu District Holds General Assembly Meeting

The Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly has held its General Assembly Meeting to deliberate on important issues affecting the development, progress and wellbeing of communities within the district.

The General Assembly Meeting was held in September 2026 at the District Assembly Office Conference Room in Kumawu. The meeting brought together Assembly Members, heads of departments and representatives of various institutions and organisations whose activities contribute to the development and administration of the Sekyere Kumawu District.

Among the key personalities present at the meeting was Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Kumawu District. Also present was Hon. Richard Gyamfi, the Presiding Member of the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly, together with other Assembly Members.

The meeting was also attended by heads and representatives from various departments and institutions operating within the district. These included representatives from the Ghana Police Service, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Ghana Education Service (GES) and other relevant departments and agencies.

Other stakeholders who attended the meeting also had the opportunity to contribute to discussions on issues affecting their respective sectors and communities.

The main purpose of the General Assembly Meeting was to provide a platform for members to discuss, deliberate on and find appropriate ways of addressing issues relating to the development and progress of the Sekyere Kumawu District.

During the meeting, several important areas were discussed, including security, education, sanitation, agriculture and other matters relating to the general development of the district.

Security was among the key areas considered during the deliberations. Participants discussed the importance of maintaining peace and security within the various communities in the district. The presence and participation of the Ghana Police Service provided an opportunity for security-related concerns to be discussed and for stakeholders to consider ways of strengthening cooperation between communities and security agencies.

Education also formed part of the discussions, given its importance to the development of children and young people in the district. Issues concerning educational development and the need for stakeholders to continue supporting schools and learners were among the matters relevant to the sector.

Sanitation was another important area discussed at the meeting. Proper sanitation remains essential to maintaining healthy communities, and the Assembly’s discussions highlighted the need for residents, community leaders and relevant institutions to work together to improve sanitation across the district.

Agriculture was also considered as part of the broader development agenda. Agriculture remains an important economic activity for many residents, and discussions surrounding the sector are relevant to efforts aimed at improving livelihoods and supporting economic development within the district.

The General Assembly Meeting also provided an opportunity for Assembly Members and heads of departments to share concerns from their respective areas and consider possible measures to address them.

In his address, Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa, the District Chief Executive, admonished all members and stakeholders present to pay attention to the issues and concerns discussed during the meeting.

The DCE encouraged members to take the deliberations seriously and work towards implementing agreed actions in their respective areas of responsibility. He emphasised the importance of collaboration among the Assembly, government departments, security agencies, traditional authorities, community members and other stakeholders in achieving sustainable development.

Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa further emphasised the Assembly’s commitment to the wellbeing and overall development of the Sekyere Kumawu District. He noted the importance of addressing the concerns of residents and ensuring that development efforts are directed towards improving the living conditions of people across the district.

The meeting therefore served as an important platform for reviewing issues affecting the district and strengthening cooperation among the various stakeholders.
